The Bubblesound Booster Module is a 2HP amplifier to bring external sound sources such as desktop synths, drum machines and effects up to a suitable level for processing within a Eurorack system. It is extremely space-efficient and has 4 separate amplifiers.
The inputs are normalized – so 1 input can give up to 4 output copies, meaning that it can be used as a multiple if desired.
When the output of one stage is physically plugged into the input of another stage it turns into a brutal opamp overdrive circuit!
With quieter line level external signal sources you could boost your signal to modular levels with the 1st stage, add subtle saturation by chaining it into the 2nd stage, add a more obvious drive by taking that output into the 3rd stage, and then finally a really bright distortion with the 4th.
Obviously, when used to drive/ boost signals from within the modular itself, you will reach a distortion”ceiling” after the 2nd or 3rd stage, as the signal was already at a high level to begin with, and hits full clipping much quicker. Definitely fun to experiment with though!
You can use stackcables, multiples or patch cable splitters to tap the signal from each output simultaneously – at different drive levels – whilst also sending it into the next stage for further boosting.
The Booster Stage is skiff-friendly and has very low power consumption.
